Animal Crossing New Horizons Review

Animal Crossing New Horizons Review

Animal Crossing New Horizons is here! Animal Crossing is a game that has been around for a long time. To see it make it to the Nintendo Switch is an exciting move. The game has a few new elements added that make it much more than just an old classic. Now we have survival as well as building and other fun tasks.
Instead of a small town, you are placed in the middle of an island where you are tasked with building shelters and eventually a community. You start with just a tent and some basic supplies. Just like with older versions you may turn your tent community into housing with bigger and better amenities.

Animal Crossing New Horizons – Setting Up Your Island

Before you start placing your tents and going on hunting and fishing adventures you must set up your island. You can decide where rivers will flow, where trees should be placed. Where you put your tents will determine where your houses will go. Doing a little bit of planning, in the beginning, will make your community flow a lot better.
The map builder is simple and easy to use. When generating your island, you will need to keep in mind that the hemisphere direction in relation to your tent and home will affect the way seasons will be perceived. Make sure the placement of your tent aligns with your preference.

Time and Date

The game plays in real-time, so when starting your game keep in mind that the current time, date and season will be reflected when you first place your tent. The time and date are shown in the bottom left-hand corner.
With that in mind, make sure your tent is placed in the hemisphere where you want to start, considering the current time and date. This will influence what fishing and hunting are available in your starting position.

Getting Started With Animal Crossing New Horizons and Challenges

Just like in past releases you start the game with different challenges. This helps you learn the layout of the game. After each day the challenges increase, and you become more familiar with the rules and controls. These challenges are handed over to you by Tom Nook himself. The more challenges you complete the more the island thrives and develops. Eventually, there will be more characters who will offer you more challenges daily.

Building and Paying Off Lenders

This is a sim game where the main goal is to build a community. However, each home you build has to be paid off before you start building more. You must invest first in the on-island settlement package. Next, you must invest in tools for building and harvesting materials.
Once you have those debts out of the way you can build homes. Each home has a lending process that must be paid off. With the tools, you can harvest supplies, such as trees, weeds, iron, and rocks. These are used for crafting and whatever is leftover can be used to pay back Nook, who is your resident loan shark.

Playing Animal Crossing New Horizons Online with Friends

The game allows you to play online. This means that you can build your community and invite others to your island through online gameplay or visit other people’s islands where you have access to rare materials and resources not available to you on your island. Online multiplayer allows for up to 8 players on your island with one person being the host. As a result, the others can be given restricted access to keep them from doing things like cutting down trees that you do not want to be removed.

Bottom Line

The added features to Animal Crossing New Horizons for Switch make the overall experience more awesome. Your sim can build an amazing community with the newly added ability to harvest materials. This is how it adds an element of survival and crafting to the game that previous versions were lacking. This is why we think you will love this game and the multiplayer access makes it fun for the whole family.
