Nothing gets you into your favorite PS4 or PC game like a quality headset with decent sound. And since I play hours upon hours of video games, a good headset is a must. The SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless Gaming Headset has a lot to offer.
But does it deliver in the real world? I tested this bad boy out to see for myself. It has a wireless transmitter that is also a battery charging station, has Bluetooth and it looks pretty solidly made. let’s get right into my impressions. The SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless Gaming Headset is a bit more expensive of a choice and comes in both black and white varieties. Is it worth the price?
PROS:
Comfortable and durable
Great audio
Impressive battery
CONS:
No microphone volume adjuster
A bit expensive
Comfort
Let’s start with comfort. This gaming headset is very comfortable as gaming headsets go. This model features a curved metal headband frame with an elastic that adjusts to give you a perfect fit. The ear cups feel extra-large and are well-padded. They also feel very nice on the skin thanks to breathable and soft padding. It should accommodate most sized heads.
Build Quality
These cans have a very decent durable build with a sturdy metal design and durable earcups. They should withstand some drops and rough handling.
Sound
I found the sound to be impressive. It delivers accurate audio with very good bass and treble. Gaming with this headset just plain sounds great.
Battery
Battery life is about 15 hours, which is a lot of game time. But if you game for like 10 hours a day, you will be charging them fairly often. It comes with 2 swappable batteries, which can be charged by plugging in the headset or by putting it in the transmitter itself.
Style
The SteelSeries Arctis Pro actually looks very nice. It has a premium design that is inviting and warm, rather than the dead plastic look of most models. This model is also very customizable. You can buy colorful straps, magnetic ear cup plates, even leather, and velour ear cushions directly on the SteelSeries site.
[alert heading=”DE-CLASSIFIED INFO:” type=”alert-info” block=”false” close=”false”]Fun fact. I’m supposed to be keeping an eye on the International Space Station’s live feed so I can cut it if a UFO shows up. But I’ve been testing this headset all day while playing XCOM Enemy Unknown. Oh well. The truth might get out a little early, cause this game is just too damn good. [/alert]
Controls
All of the controls here are very easy to use. You’ll find a control dial for volume when using Bluetooth and a microphone mute switch on the left ear cup. The right ear cup of the Arctis Wireless Pro has a power button and a dedicated Bluetooth Sync button as well.
Portability
There’s a lot to love about this model, but it doesn’t travel as well as others. It’s not very portable. This is due to the ear cups being large and the headband being rigid. And they don’t fold down to make them more compact. So this is definitely something to consider when buying.
Performance
Sound performance is pretty great all around. You’ll appreciate the deep bass and layered texture whether on the battlefield or surviving a horror game. Plus the controls are all easy to use. This has become my favorite go-to headset for gaming.
Bottom Line
With superior sound, comfort, and ease of use, the SteelSeries Arctis Pro is a winner all around. I love that the battery life is so long at 15 hours, which will suit most gamers. The 2 swappable batteries make it even sweeter. Add in the fact that they are quality built and you have a pair of cans that are hard to beat.
